CBD Questions & Answers
CBD De-mystified
We've all been hearing A LOT about CBD Products, and the hype is with fairly good reason. But WHAT IS IT? CBD is a short for the compound Cannabidiol (pronounced cannabid-DIE-all), and CBD derived from Hemp plants is legal in all 50 states, including Kansas. As a compound, CBD is often understood in relation to THC (THC is the stuff that makes one "high" in marijuana). CBD does not make you high--it has a lot of medicinal uses. In particular, it works on the body's internal endocannabinoid system, which is a widespread network that helps to regulate the nervous system. It regulates both internal function, and adjusts to external stimulus, keeping things on an even keel, and striving toward homeostasis, or dynamic balance. CBD stimulates the endocannabinoid system internally, to promote the body's ability to balance and regulate itself on multiple levels (neurological, mood, pain, etc.). CBD is currently produced from Hemp plants, which are marijuana plants with the THC compound bred out of them, leaving only CBD to be harvested from the plants.
HEALTH BENEFITS OF CBD
CBD is not a one size fits all miracle supplement, but it does offer a wide range of relief from symptoms associated with:
Inflammation and Pain Good for people with fibromyalgia, chronic pain, nerve pain, muscular pain, arthritis and spinal cord pain
Nausea Not recommended during pregnancy!
Anxiety Good for overall anxiety, and patients have reported feeling calm without any psycho-active side effects
Seizures and Other Neurological Disorders Parkinson's, MS, neuropathy, migraines
Cardiovascular issues Improves cardiovascular health
Diabetes Reduces risk of diabetes
Acne Due to anti-inflammatory effects

WHAT FORMS DOES CBD TAKE?
TOPICAL CBD - This form is best for muscular aches and pains, arthritis, back pain, swelling, neck and shoulder tension, and post-work out muscle soreness, and full body pain like fibromyalgia. It is available in varying strengths, and is often combined with other herbs and ingredients to enhance pain relief.
INTERNAL CBD - This form is best used for anxiety, neurological issues like MS, Parkinson's, and seizures. It is also good for fighting inflammation systemically, improving cardiovascular health, and fighting the effects of cancer.
COMBINING THE TWO - This is the best approach for pain, as it works locally and systemically. Also good for Parkinson's, MS, and other diseases that cause body pain.
WHERE DO I FIND A REPUTABLE, QUALITY SOURCE FOR CBD PRODUCTS?
I carry a selection of carefully chosen internal and topical CBD products at my clinic. Do you need to be a patient to purchase CBD products from us? No, you do not. Yes, you can send your friend, colleague, family member in for CBD products. I know the manufacturer for one of my best CBD product lines (she is an acupuncturist in Longmont, CO), and the other products I have personally tested and researched for quality and efficacy. I carry these products because I am always on the lookout for ways to help my patients live better in their bodies and their lives.
Now, how do you know where I learned all of this, am I making it all up?! Nope. Here are the links I used to put together this quickie CBD guide! Please feel free to explore!
